Baynes Travel
Dennis Baynes originally set up a local taxi service up in the village of Allendale in the 1970’s with a second-hand VW Dormobile. The Baynes Travel business still has its home at Bridge End in Allendale,
but fifty years on it is now run by his son Nigel. The quaint local taxi service is long gone. The fleet of modern cars, people carriers, coaches and mini-buses run by Baynes Travel,
proudly liveried with the distinctive B logo and driven by a dedicated professional team of drivers, is a familiar sight across the roads of northern England. It’s now a bustling 24/7 operation, dropping business men off at the regional airports to catch the first flights; taking children to school; collecting exhausted hikers and mountain bikers from the tops of moors; ferrying wedding guests to receptions; touring country houses in the Scottish borders; and collecting exuberant parties of hens and stags from the night spots on Tyneside in the early hours of the morning.
Our philosophy
Dennis would perhaps be a little bemused by the scale of things, but he would definitely have been proud. Because he would still recognise the friendliness and underlying relaxed ethos that still permeates the business he started. A philosophy of being reliable and doing everything you can to make passengers happy. Our way of doing business has served Baynes Travel well in helping it to grow and thrive. Because passengers appreciate that kind of service given by the Baynes’ team from the Hen House as much today as they did fifty years ago when T Rex was on the radio and Dennis was answering the phone. We still love to boogie!
Our fleet
The Baynes’ fleet includes a wide range of modern vehicles from cars and minibuses to a wheelchair accessible vehicle and a 57-seat executive coach. Our vehicles are fitted with the latest technologies, fully maintained and fitted with 3-point restraining seat belts for passenger safety; and immaculately cleaned before every trip for personal comfort.
Our drivers
Your comfort and peace of mind are Baynes Travel’s number one priority. That’s why we use drivers and excursion couriers whose nature is to be friendly and helpful. All of our drivers are fully trained for the vehicles they are operating, are DBS cleared and if you request a female driver in advance we will try to accommodate your request.
