J & C Coaches Ltd
J&C Coaches was formed on the 14th January 1977 when Durham County Fireman John H. Jones was medically discharged out of The Fire Brigade and bought a 12 seater mini-bus with his severance pay.
John immediately set to work circulating the Pubs and Clubs in Newton Aycliffe and Darlington and soon built up a nice trade running around Darts, Domino’s and Pool Teams. He then acquired a local Factory Contract and when J&C were invited to tender for a Durham County Special School run John and his wife Freda decided to purchase a second vehicle, thus doubling the fleet size.
With the Husband and Wife team hard at work in their new venture the ‘nice man’ from The Local Council paid them a visit and informed them that they couldn’t run a business from their Home address.
Premises were immediately sought and once moved in, the fleet size continued to expand. 35 years later J&C Coaches now runs a modern fleet of Mini, Midi and Full Sized Coaches from a purpose built site on Aycliffe Business Park.
We have over a dozen highly skilled and highly motivated staff members and as well as performing School Contracts and local Private Hire we also operate Short Breaks and Holidays throughout the UK and Europe ………. In short J&C are a local Family success story built from the smallest of foundations.
