Who Are We?
J&C Coaches have a dozen highly skilled and highly motivated staff members and as well as performing School Contracts we operate a fleet of vehicles for local Private Hire ranging from 16 seaters to 33 seaters.
J&C Coaches was formed on the 14th January 1977 when Durham County Fireman John H. Jones was medically discharged out of The Fire Brigade and bought a 12 seater mini-bus with his severance pay.
John immediately set to work circulating the Pubs and Clubs in Newton Aycliffe and Darlington and soon built up a nice trade running around Darts, Domino’s and Pool Teams. He then acquired a local Factory Contract and when J&C were invited to tender for a Durham County Special School run John and his wife Freda decided to purchase a second vehicle, thus doubling the fleet size.
With the Husband and Wife team hard at work in their new venture the ‘nice man’ from The Local Council paid them a visit and informed them that they couldn’t run a business from their Home address.
Premises were immediately sought and once moved in, the fleet size continued to expand. Almost 50 years later J&C Coaches now runs a modern fleet of Mini, and Midi Coaches from a purpose built site on Aycliffe Business Park.
In short J&C are a local Family success story built from the smallest of foundations.
