Galloway European Coachlines Ltd

Galloway was founded in 1965, to provide school group travel to the continent by coach. Initially coaches were hired from operators throughout the country until 1978 when Galloway bought the established coach operating business of A F Braybrooke & Son, based in Mendlesham. The business was renamed Galloway European Coachlines Ltd with its operational base being primarily to provide for the coaching requirements of its own tours.

Following a number of local acquisitions, including Bickers of Coddenham in 1983 and Rex Service Station at Thorndon in 1990, and a management buy-out in 1997, expansion continued into extended tours, private hire and contracts. Steadily the fleet expanded, outgrowing the original premises in the centre of Mendlesham's village, and new premises were developed at Denters Hill on the outskirts of the same village to accommodate the larger fleet. This remains the Head Office, vehicle maintenance facility and main depot.
