Oares of Holywell

Before running a coach and bus business George Arnold Oare was originally a funeral director and operated taxis. A minibus was acquired in 1978 and soon a school contract was obtained. The numbers of pupils being conveyed grew and therefore a full size Bedford VAM70 / Plaxton coach was purchased in 1980. Following the de-regulation of the industry in the mid eighties various services were operated the most interesting being the Cymru Coastliner where two vehicles would be involved. This work was undertaken on behalf of the local authority Clwyd County Council. Other services undertaken included - Denbigh to Ruthin via Llandyrnog route, Mold to Chester via Northop Hall and the Holywell to Denbigh routes. In addition to route work the business has operated coaches for both private hire and for tour work. The company have had a long association with the tour company GB Tours of Birkenhead. In 1992 the business and fleet of Reynolds, Gwespyr was acquired involving four vehicles.

The business was incorporated as a limited company Oare's Coaches Limited in 1996. The directors being George Oare and his wife Alison. The business has always been essentially a family business and George's both sons were involved – Wayne and Mark. Wayne was the Transport Manager but he has now left the business.

Ronald Williams who traded as Pied Bull in Mold gave up his business in 2003 and his fleet of 4 vehicles were purchased by Oare's.

The last local service that was operated was the Holywell local services. Today the business is mainly school, college and other contracts together with private hire.

Sadly George Oare died on 17th September 2015 at the age of 78. The company is now owned by Alison Oare and run by her son Mark.
